Additionally, some of us have lobbied for our favorite model with
manufacturers. Also sometimes we have done what Congress seems to
rarely do and compromised. Other times we have agreed to purchase X if
we can get support for Y next--again a government type thing.
Sometimes this works rather well.
I remember many years ago Walt Dynalack (sp) was going to import a NYC
Niagara. He called for reservations, at the time I barely knew what a
Niagara was and after finding out, had even less use for it, but I made
a reservation with the idea that something was better than nothing.
Times have changed for sure obviously for several reasons: the price of
wood/resin kits isn't $8 any more, the price of brass engines isn't $450
anymore and the closest is the same size it used to be!
