Lionel does not care about historical facts for railroad items.

They have done this before, as it is about marketing their products, as to 
them, selling a non existent RR painted item, because it looks good to them and 
others who do not know the history of a line, sells engine and other products 
for Lionel..

its about making money.

They know this, that the item was never painted like this..

And to me, I had no clue, until you all pointed this out, not that I was going 
to buy one.

Go to Lionel's website and write them. I wrote them earlier this morning
telling them that the U36C never wore the red/silver paint scheme. Only the
solid blue with yellow ends and then later the yellow/blue warbonnet. Even
received a response back:
