Hi all:
One could also look at the offerings of Lionel as a good first step
towards excellent scale offerings. From an historical perspective, I
think it is a great step towards getting what the majority of s gaugers
(both high rail and scale) would like to have. As John also says,
everybody doesn't think the same - we all have different wants and
expectations, sort of a normal curve or distribution of people. As we
have all found out in our professional lives, to get that extra 0.0001"
in accuracy or a very small value for the standard deviation of
measurements is often extremely expensive and not worth the effort.
Thus the people on the extreme wings of the standard curve may never be
satisfied, no matter what they get. We all recognize that life is that
way, accept it, and do the best with what we obtain, are offered, or
build ourselves.
regards to all S gaugers,

Ok, let me get this straight... I'm getting accused of having a
tantrum because I dared to say why I wouldn't be buying anything in
Lionel's 2012 S scale line up? Is that, now, what qualifies as a
tantrum? Ok... well... in that case, I guess I'm having a tantrum.
In reality, I'm having a tantrum only because John Amrstrong says I
am, and that is because I don't handle things the way he does. I
guess the standard by which I (and all who hold a similar view of
Lionel's new line) should be judged has now been established.
Apologies to all who had the misfortune of reading this... including
John Amrstrong.
