Good morning:
It is time I chime in. I looked at the new Lionel catalog on-line. When
was the last time AF had its own catalog? A scale Challenger?

At TrainFest this year I was permitted to handle the Challenger as much as I
wanted. I am impressed. Now a scale N&W Y? (And during WWII UP did own some,
second hand. They hated them. They were too slow. The final Y6b had better
economies than the current diesels.) When Lionel brings out an SP cab forward
I will be first in line.

I wrote Doug Peck asking him to send me a copy of the catalog. My bad eyes
need paper. (Doug Peck has been my 'pusher' for AF parts for many years.
There are other good dealers starting with Des Plaines Hobbies.)

If Lionel has decide to compete head-to-head with AM and SHS on quality then I
will buy. I plan to ignore the re-runs of Gilbert's AF. (I have plenty.) I
will order each in scale and ask Doug to catch a matching set of High Rail
wheels.

Someone else mentioned we are getting older. True. But the past decade HAS
been the golden age of S. And, not counting the Chinese upset, it is still
getting better and better. It is a great time to be in S.
