I'm happy to report that North 1 is now in service as a receiving track for inbound freight trains. Tests revealed that the spring switch works as intended, as does the manual override. Pretty neat, to watch a locomotive pass through the sprung switch points from the diverging route, then reverse direction and proceed up the straight route without throwing the switch.
Next will be a common ground feeder to the North Main, due to the length of the unbroken common ground rail through North 1. Also, the remote ground throw mechanisms for the previously mentioned Back Lead and West end Pass switches that diverge from the West end of the North Main are still in the works. I'm not sure how soon I'll get those installed. I've got some other things to do before I go back to Iowa City on the 30th to ascertain that I qualify for the bone butcher. After that, at any time, I expect my life to take a [temporary, I hope] drastic turn for a few months that may put a serious damper on model railroad activity, or anything else, for that matter. boB Nicholson _______________________________________________ --- In [email protected], "shabbona_rr" <user141771@...> wrote: > > The spring switch from the West end of North 1 to the North Main is now > installed and operational.
