Andre,

I hope you don't abandon it. I am not a railroader at all but still have
difficulty finding time to devote to it. I will retire from a 40-plus years of
teaching at the end of June. To complicate matters all the more, I have taught
English with an emphasis on writing, some of it about the literature the kids
read, some about non-fiction found in magazines, such as Popular Psychology,
Atlantic Monthy, the New Yorker, the National Review, and many others. Anyway,
going over students' rough drafts takes way more time than administering a
multiple-choice test. Once I explain an assignment, it's my obligation to
guide the students through it and make editorial suggestions on their rough
drafts. So-yeah-I know what you're talking about.

Still, I'd say stay with it. You do great work, and your accomplishments
inspire us. Now perhaps I can afford to carve out several hours a day to
modeling, but my wife wants me to take care of the yard during the drought
we're having. And I'm going over the doctoral dissertation of someone who is a
native speaker of German and found out that I know both languages. He does not
expect me to do it for free, but it still takes time. I guess I'm saying that
even when you're retired, someone is pulling your chain wanting something. No
matter, I plan to enjoy some time with model railroading, and I need people
whose work is as good as yours just for the inspiration it provides. So stick
with it. We need you.

Tom
