Think the post was comparing against Lionel O trains and not HO. The
Lionel O-27 track has a radius of 13.5" - that would be equal to 10.1"
in S or 7.4" in HO - way too small for anything but maybe a small
trolley. The standard HO 18" curve would be like a 32.6" curve in O
or O-65 in their terms... which is larger than what Lionel considers
large radius - O-54. Hence the need to very sharp turning mechs in
the Lionel O stuff.
