When we did the NASG National Convention in '88 (I know, we are due again...),
we borrowed an idea from a previous convention and gave a discount for bringing
a model to the convention. I do not have the numbers at hand, but if I
remember correctly we had over a hundred models show up. I know the judges
were not all that pleased as it took them hours to go through all of the
models. Instead of giving the normal type of awards, we lobbied our S mfgs.
for products to be given to the model contest participants instead of door
prizes for attendees. We had 19 S mfgs. donate products. I think best is show
was given an Omnicon Erie brass 4-6-0.
