I build my models for me because that is what I want. I may bring them to a
convention or meet. Lately I have moved a bit more into "I like what I made
but if you do too that is also OK". If you don't like it that is OK too. In
short I don't really need justification from others for what I built. 

 

At a PRR convention I would have to spend some considerable effort in
displaying what I did to my 5495 compared to an HO brass model that out of
the box was a lot closer to my final work.

 

What a change away from the current contest to a RPM environment is the
convention host does not have to find (threaten) a panel of qualified local
model judges to lock themselves in the model room for 3+ hours to judge and
possibly give some honest praise or criticism before picking the winners. 

 

>From what I have seen at a PRR convention I don't believe eliminating the
contest at an NASG convention would have great impact on the number of
models brought for the model room.
