I use the spacers. American Models also provides a similar spacer with
his cars, but normally I only get one.
I ream out the truck mounting hole very slightly. However, I take one
of the spacers and file the two opposing sides at a taper. This allows
the truck to rock and equalize thus giving a three point suspension.

Y'know, if all the cars are SHS without spacers, then the couplers
will all be at the same height with each other. All you'd need is one
transition car to couple with non-SHS cars or locos. Since Dave cuts
off the glad hand anyway, no snagging on the rails. Who needs
standards anyway?
