Dear Dave,
SHS spacers - a funny story (at least to me). When we send the spec sheet
into the builder (during the good old days when Wai Shing Ting ran Sanda Kan
like a fine watch...), we told them the cars needed to be a prototype height
from the railhead and did not mention that AF comp. cars could be taller. The
spacer was so the body mounted AF comp. coupler would not increase the overall
height of the car. So, without the AF comp. coupler, the car would be a bit
low, so they included the spacer to be used with the KD couplers. And, yes
every now and then a run of cars the spacer was a few tenths of a mm to small
and could use a little reaming.
Don
