I'm pretty sure most manufactures are more concernded with selling their
product than what the "end user" is going to do with it, be it straight out of
the box, modified, kitbashed, taking up residence in the parts bin, sitting on
a display shelf or sitting under the layout still in its unopened box.
Successful manufactures keep their inventory churning, not holding back product.
