Some here have more than once motioned ____ could make a new diesel shell to
fit on the __ American Models drive. That is really NOT a good idea.
****Hypothetically**** if AM sees the new shell as competition the price
could go up or supply on loose drives could somehow dry up. Things happen.
You are left with orders and an empty loco shell.

I learned from seeing Russ Downs struggle with getting some much needed
components made on a "friendly" basis. When the friend's business got busy
and could not make the parts Russ would be out of parts needed to finish his
car and could not ship anything.

The moral of the story is this: anyone like me or Rusty can make very
limited run very specific parts. We make them, do a blast out, sell some and
they have a limited lifespan. But the rubber meets the road when someone
starts looking at making complete locomotives. It should be all or nothing
at all. You could wind up in big trouble being dependant on some other
company for major components needed to complete your locomotive - again
especially if they are in your same market.
