Alan, I never said that Bill's model should not be eurethane. That is where you totally misunderstood my comment. II cannot afford brass either. I will not be at the Fort Worth/Plano show... too far our of my range, which is east of the Mississippi and far south of the Mason-Dixon Line. I had samples of the Sergent couplers at Chattanooga. Were you there? And I can take a joke when they are obviously so.
'Nuff said. I know how Bill loves his brass, but to come out with a urathan car puts the market for this car body in the hands of a greater number of "S" scale modelers that can't buy the more expensive brass. I applod Bill for doing this. I'll get back on my rocker when I see a Sergent coupler down here in Fort Worth. Bring a sample to our upcoming train shows in Fort Worth and Plano. While here visit the World's Greatest Train Show that will be here in between those 2 shows. Dec and Jan. Oh , I'm talking about Our North Texas Council shows> Fort Worth in Dec, WGTS, Then the Plano show in Jan. We need more out of town venders to show up. Can you take a joke. You clearly need to take a deep breath and re-read my post. I was TEASING Bill for making a eurethane kit because I know how much he loves his brass. You, old boy, are off your rocker! If you read the whole message the way you should have. It states"In cooperation with S Scale Loco and Supply". Meaning that he has worked with Fred Rouse to bring Something "new" to the market. Even though it is only the main body, I look forward to seeing the final product. It may not acomadate the sergent coupler, but hey it is something new. It may be geared toward the guys that can not afford Brass. I for one am on that list. Just for one time get off your high horse, and think about where Bill and Fred are going with this project. If you don't like it don'y buy it, let us simi scale guys have a go at it. My thoughts, Alan From: John Degnan <[email protected]> To: [email protected] Sent: Wednesday, August 29, 2012 5:03 PM Subject: Re: {S-Scale List} Lanes Trains is entering the freight car market WHO ARE YOU AND WHAT HAVE YOU DONE WITH OUR BRASH, BRASS-BASHING BILL!?!?!? The eurethane gives it away, pal... you can't be BILL LANE! <G> John Degnan [email protected] [email protected] ----- Original Message ----- From: Bill Lane To: [email protected] Sent: Wednesday, August 29, 2012 01:37 PM Subject: {S-Scale List} Lanes Trains is entering the freight car market [2 Attachments] Lanes Trains in cooperation with S Scale Loco & Supply is very happy to announce a new urethane freight car in S Scale. It is the PRR F33 well hole flat car. I have been working with Fred Rouse throughout the year to get the open for business sign hung up. Without his knowledge I investigated making a car that Fred would benefit from by supplying the trucks. It turned out to be possible to bring a new car to the market and help a brother S Scaler at the same time. The F33 project was born. This will be a little different that previous projects on many ways. It will be **ala carte** with just the body being sold. You would get the trucks directly from SSLS. If there is sufficient body sales I will look at making a brass detail parts tree in Solidworks which will include the difficult to make side stirrup steps, draft gear and a few other details. Otherwise it really is a very simple car. My friend John is already on tap to make decals. Smaller details wire grab irons etc will not be furnished since you likely already have them. No prices for the what the total package cost of the car are known yet but the target is to close to or below other recent S Scale urethane cars and of course will delivered in the timely manner you have come to expect with other Lanes Trains projects. If this project is successful that are already other cars in queue to be made. No need to send money or emails yet - just stay tuned. We are just getting started. Thank You, Bill Lane
