I have looked at one pair of the Walther's oversized HO coupler -- a sort of
Kadee-like pseudo-clone. It is a good size: slightly larger than the Kadee HO
coupler and slightly smaller than the Kadee S coupler. It is all plastic. The
shank is just like the pre-whisker Kadee #5. All of that is the good news.

The bad news is that the trip pin was not held tightly in place and soon worked
itself loose from the knuckle casting. I guess this comes from the magnetic
forces working on it time after time. With a loose trip pin, uncoupling over a
magnet becomes very unreliable. My sample size was only one, but the results
were discouraging. Perhaps my one coupler was not typical. Just a thought
that I could be reaching the wrong conclusion based on just one lemon coupler.

I still prefer the all-metal Kadee #5, but am open to new improvements.

Cheers...Ed L.
