True, but......

In the case of Lionel, there is a long history and familiarity with the toy
train marketplace. The marketing folks there feel they know the O 3-rail
market and can predict what will sell well.

Not the case with S toys or S models. This is a new and strange beast to them.
As a result, caution reigns. There is a fear that a misstep might cause loss
of job. Make that: EXTREME caution reigns.

What to us is rudimentary is a different planet to some Lionel folks. Here is
one example: The toy train guys love smoke. Even the diesels smoke these
days. Dan Navarre says that he has never received one request for smoke in his
RRM imported scale locos.

Want another: Toy train guys like crew talk and Lionel gives it to them.
Scale guys, in general, feel it is unrealistic and do not want it. After all,
they say, you cannot hear the crew talking while watching trains go by.

The list goes on and on. So what should Lionel (or MTH) do?

Lionel and MTH have both asked for suggestions and ideas from their potential
customers. A very intelligient thing to do -- in my opinion at least.

But for some very strange reason, there are folks openly advocating "Don't tell
them anything!" Their theory is that silence is preferable to assistance.

This is the most bizarre attitude I have seen in many years.

Nothing personal, but it borders on disbelief.

Why should we help the guys who are trying to help us?

Makes no sense. Does S stand for "S"uicide?
