The main problem is scale guys want more detail that ready to run lacks. They 
need to fork over some money so the tooling can be made to satisfy the small 
add on detail parts they all hanker for. For me I'm happy with the way ready to 
run cars look. with extra tooling needed we would look at a $56.00 car being 
$100.00 or more. what do you want.

My impression, as a newbie, is that this is a hobby - and the fun, for many, is 
in the art and craft of changing things, not in buying something.  Even if it 
were "perfect", there would be no fun in just running it.  For others, they 
have neither, the time, nor skill, or whatever to want to improve on very nice, 
acceptable items.

Put another way, it's the journey, not the destination that is important.
