Yes, but how many different models were available in the Blue Box era? many
fewer than now in HO.
New runs are made, but the nobody does a run knowing most of it will sit in a
warehouse. I remember when Lifelike started the P2K line with a BL2, they way
over produced, and within a year were blowing them out at way under MSRP.
Modern marketing doesn't consider models as "staples" which should be stocked
continuously. BTW, even Athearn Blue Box was made in runs. Slower selling items
were not available for years at a time. You might always be able to buy an F7
or a 40 ft boxcar(although maybe not in the roadname you wanted), but RDCs were
pretty scarce for a long time.
