Bob's response from Lionel is obviously from the "Talk To Us" personnel.
That's essentially the same response I got from them.

My personal feeling has become that Lionel's "Talk To Us" IS the source of most
confusion out of Lionel on this and other subjects.

Here are two other responses as posted on the OGR forum regarding the new Flyer
and scale wheels.

The first post is from one OGR forum menmber who knows one Remy Convery, who
apparently holds some kind of position of authority at Lionel:

"the SD70's are intended to have scale wheel options, if at all possible".

"for the Scale Cylindrical Hoppers we have developed a scale wheeled truck with
a removable AF traditional coupler (it is separate from the truck) and
attachment `pad' on the frame for scale couplers. It will also have removable
truck sides whereby the consumer can replace scale wheel sets with traditional
Flyer ones. That amalgamation is the best approach given that either scenario
involves additional expenditures by the consumer. This is the fairest way of
providing a far ranging item that touches both realms at minimized cost."

The next one was posted on the OGR forum by Mike Reagan, Director of Customer
Support at Lionel:

"We are not including any models of the Y3 with scale wheels at this time,
however, there will be both hi-rail and scale wheel set variants for our U-boat
and SD70ACe models. Thank you, Mike Reagan Director of Customer Service Lionel"

The funny thing was, the subject of scale wheels for the Y3 was not part of the
subject or even mentioned on this OGR forum discussion thread.

Now, according to the auto-response I recieved later Friday once I located his
email address, Mike Reagan will be out of the office until the 30th. My email
to him basically took Lionel to task about the confusing and contradictory
nature of their communication with the consumer.
