   Hi Ed, I believe the last sentence but not the first part.My experience is 
Lionel trucks need a lot of work with a dremel cutoff wheel to even get them 
apart so I can't see them "falling apart"anytime soon. Contrary to what your 
vendor told you Atlas trucks are no great favorite of O scale modelers, they 
are grossly over wide to accommodate 3 rail tinplate wheel sets. They probably 
just use them on the converted cars because they are available and sell well to 
those who don't know their shortcomings. When I switched trucks on 3 rail O 
cars I would use Weaver trucks or Athearn trucks before Atlas trucks every 
time. I even removed Atlas trucks and put more scale like trucks on Atlas cars 
if I wanted them to look better. If Lionel scale flyer trucks are as nice as 
their 3 rail scale trucks we'll be happy campers even if we have to provide our 
own scale wheels....DaveBranum
