Don Thompson makes a good point, I actually used some denim swatches I got (and
I hate to admit it) when I went to a local country curtain shop with my wife.
They had free samples (3"x3") so I helped myself to a few, along with other
swatches, which I've actually used for curtains, table clothes, area rugs, etc.

I wish I knew about the switch machine because I made mine using a piece of a
wood sprew from a Imagine That Laser kit, cut and fashioned some brass rods, I
forget the diameter right now (painted black with orange tips). Made diagonal
slices in the wood, used a micro drill bit to drill holes at different angles
in the wood slice, then inserted the brass rod with a dab of CA glue and it
looked pretty good.
