Steve, along the line of the fabrics are miniature wallpaper sheets used in doll houses. I think I bought a couple sheets for less than a dollar. Put them on a flatbed scanner and resized. Of course there's no reason to not just copy the full sized wall either.

I did a couple of store interiors for Bill Banta's city block kit. Just walk into a vintage or tourist store near the door and shoot a quick wide angle photo or perhaps a few views that could be 'stitched together in PhotoShop. In this case I just let the off-colored and uneven lighting print naturally. This sure is a help in dressing up a building that's only one inch deep with a hint of the interior

Don Thompson makes a good point, I actually used some denim swatches I got (and I hate to admit it) when I went to a local country curtain shop with my wife. They had free samples (3"x3") so I helped myself to a few, along with other swatches, which I've actually used for curtains, table clothes, area rugs, etc.

I wish I knew about the switch machine because I made mine using a piece of a wood sprew from a Imagine That Laser kit, cut and fashioned some brass rods, I forget the diameter right now (painted black with orange tips). Made diagonal slices in the wood, used a micro drill bit to drill holes at different angles in the wood slice, then inserted the brass rod with a dab of CA glue and it looked pretty good.
