Cousin Bill,
My main reason to go with 2 decoders early on was those motors used on
the RR diesels (FT's, F redrives and SD-9's in my case) get really hot
when used with the DSD150 decoders. I did a test run in my first
install and I was so pleased that everything worked, so I grabbed the
diesel frame to install the shell. The motor was like a hot potato
fresh from the micro-wave oven.
That's why, until I have some additional funds, I run them with some
Lenz running decoders and the sound only Soundtraxx units. A bit more
painful but I don't favor running my motors that hot either.

Bob & all,
Some (most?) of the River Raisin diesels made by Ajin had 2 small HO
motors -- not linked together. I hated that idea, and am putting a
larger single motor in most of them. But my SD9 do run OK.... I have a
single DSD150 in my SD9 that still have the twin HO motors -- no
problems.
Thank You,
Bill Lane
