while the idea of having a scale y3, or even a challenger is appealing, the reality is, is that most scalers, for one reason or another can not afford/or wish to purchase one of these engines, and lionel is aware of this, why do you think they are still in the flyonel market? and mth also recognizes the reality of the scale market, so until the scale market can
support its own dreams, DON'T HOLD YOUR BREATH, or waste I/O'S

Yes, Pennsy had 6. They were classified HH1 and lasted to at least 1950, meaning I could use one. :)

I couldn't find out about it on Lionel site (which is poor IMO) so I stopped by the local hobby store and they had an 2012 AF catalog. The Y3 was on the first two pages with MSRP of $999.

I like the idea of pestering Lionel about scale wheels. On the back of the catalog, their contact info is 586-949-4100 or talktous AT lionel.com

I plan dropping them a note.
