I was not aware that MTH S locos were yet available? Roy Inman

That's what buddies do Ed.....disagree and still remain buddies. VBG. But, in this case MTH has obviously done their homework since you report their "S" locos run slow and smooth. My prejudice comes from my O scale experience with the Atlas and Lionel China Drives that needed a lot of work or electronics to make them behave. Guys were wiring the two motors in parallel to slow them down and they still preformed poorly below 4-5 SMPH, especially on straight DC. Switching was out of the question. But, I understand later offerings from these two manufacturers ran better, but I never went back after my 1st experience. This still leaves a couple of issues like having a motor sticking up in the cab instead of a cab interior, tons of electronics to control the two motors and the exposed gears between the truck and the sideframes.....at least on the O scale locos. I've never seen the MTH or Lional "S" locos 1st hand so I'll have to hold my judgement. Butch Holtgrieve
