From: Alan Lambert Fort Worth, Texas 'TC', I have to agree with you. Drop down to "N" scale, the Kato sound equipted locos are mostly weight. there is plenty of room for the decoder and speaker. My brother, at the local train shows lashes up 4 engines in front of a 40 plus train of grain hoppers with a dummy pusher engine. That is where the weight comes in handy. the 4 front engines have no problem pulling that many cars. Without the weight, it would take 6 engines and a powered pusher. And I'm talking about 1 little motor in each engine. You have to see it to believe me. That can be done with 2 motors in our loco's with some extra weight to aid with traction issues. Alan Lambert

Baloney Size is not everything. Many of the high tech motors I have outpull any Pitman antique you can fit in the hood. It is a balance of the drive and enough weight to generate traction. Notice the size of the weight Kato is using. If that is a core-less motor with a planetary gear set then it may well pull like Big Blue at the speed of Timothy.
