AM offered the choice of high(standard) or low speed gearing on their Baldwin S-12. You didn't get both sets of gearing included, you had to specify which one.
The low speed gearing runs signifcantly slower than the standard high speed gearing. I understand it was a matter of changing out the worm gear. Don't know for sure. I guess you can still order the needed parts from AM.
