I know that. I just put up my oval without the switches and they worked' I 
might have to look at Tom's turnouts to get the ones I really want. I am having 
fun though.

Hi Alan;

Not really, you can run scale wheels on old metal-tie Flyer track if you want. 
The problem comes with the switches/turnouts. Then you need closed frog or 
Tom's turnouts.

I know a lot of folks with layouts using closed frog turnouts to accommodate 
both wheel types.
