And some of us prefer the S scale Kadee over the HO for standard gauge equipment. One big reason for me is that just about all the details on model equipment are slightly over scale size... such as most grab irons, sill steps, rivets, etc. The S coupler, considered slightly over sized by some modelers, blends better with all the other slightly over scale size details. The slightly undersize of the HO coupler is exaggerated by the over sized other details. The negative slack action can be cured when the S couplers are installed. Not a big deal. And for those of us who model in S and Sn3, using the HO coupler on Sn3 looks just about right for the 3/4 size coupler used on the prototype. It provides a visual difference from the S standard gauge stuff. Best news is that you have a choice.
