Stan,

I am waiting for some decals to get made for my RDC. As they are now they
have been painted in Alclad Stainless paint. On the plus side it looks
stunningly like stainless steel. On the not so good side it seemed to be
very soft paint even after baking. It wore off the high spots pretty easily
in average handling.

I blasted my shells. That took off the most of the nickel plating. As is it
was the nickel plating with silver paint on top. That also wore off pretty
easily. Since I should have removed the snow plows the first time I am going
to blast and paint again.

I have been in contact with Bob Hogan. He is probably the most experienced
person I know for dealing over Alclad paint. Bob said he cuts the decals
into individual letters. I am NOT going to be doing that for Pennsylvania –
Reading Seashore Lines 4 times!

In spite of the difficulties I think the Alclad paint is the way to go for
simulating stainless steel.

Thank You,
Bill Lane
