There were also at least two 42-inch gauge roads operating in the state of 
Virginia -- the Big Sandy & Cumberland RR (ne WM Ritter -- later purchased by 
the N&W in the 1930s) in SW Va and the Dismal Swamp RR in Eastern Va.<br /><br
