All: I have a cab and side tanks to convert the Mantua 2-6-6-2 to S Scale. I
also have some 4' arch bar trucks. My other Sn3 Scale trucks can have the wheel
sets spread to 3.5' gage very easily. I am working on a Sn3 conversion of the
Bachmann On30 4-4-0 & 2-6-6-2 to Sn3. With a change of cab they would not need
to have the wheel sets changed for Sn3.5. The tender and tender trucks are
another matter, both are too large. All the Sn3 car kits already available only
need their wheel sets changed to 3.5' gage to be run on Sn3.5(42"). As far as
the WP&YR trucks go I have both the Barber S2 and Estado all ready which can be
regaged to Sn3.5. North Yard, PBL, Rio Grande Models, Railmaster and PVC all
have Sn3 car kits available. Change the wheel sets to 0.650" gage and you are
up and running.
Track Gage:
HO/On30/Sn3.5 all will use 0.650" as track gage.
0.0650" = 4' 8.5" in HO, 32.5" in O and 41.6" in S.
Sn42" = 0.655". So HO track is close enough for me for Sn3.5(42).
Track: I am suggesting using Micro Engineering On30 track for Sn3.5. The ties
are more S scale than O scale.
