Jim,

Thanks for the report on the AT1000. I’ve been curious to try them, especially
since they are cheaper! And hello to the Hoosiers: I’ll not be going back
there this year. The trip sounds like great fun!

We'll, the project has actually covered more than a Saturday night ... I picked
up a DL&W AM U25b and have been setting it up for scale couplers and DCC to run
in consist with a U33c. I had hoped to add an SD40-2 to the consist but the
speed curves are so far apart I haven't explored it further. For now I'll have
to remain hopeful there is an SD45 in the S scale's future.

I've been doing DCC diesel installations with Tsunami TSU AT1000 decoders
rather that the standard Tsunami with the pigtail wire harness. I would really
recommend them for installations where you can fix the decoders location before
wiring begins. They present a much easier and clearer wiring "picture"! Other
than my installations of LokSound decoders, I don't think I use any
pigtail-style decoders anymore – at least in diesels...

Have a good week; I'm off to a food safety conference and then 4 full days of
railfanning in Indiana and Ohio on the former NYC and B&O main lines to
Chicago. Of course they are NS and CSX now but still see train frequencies in
the range of 150+ per day. I've been photographing trains from the same
"personal" bridge location in Indiana now off and on since 1978. Looking
forward to the break...
