Hope all had a good Independence Day--all these people who call the 4th
a holiday would have flunked Mrs. Wenzel's English class!
Anyway, on Wednesday I went down to Rusty Paulus's new RR building to
help him sheetrock part of it. I haven't done a full day of heavy
manual work in a long time--neither had he. But we accomplished a
respectable amount of work. Our temperatures had moderated a bit to the
mid 90's so that helped a bit. However trains will not be running next
month either.
Thursday, I decided to do some home repairs at my home. We had a near
disaster happen in our kitchen on Father's Day. A loaded kitchen
cabinet tore off the wall and shoved me from the back with much damage
to the dishes, cabinet and my person. But it could have been much
worse. So I had to inset plywood behind the sheetrock to support the
poor initial installation, that process took me a long time to
accomplish. However by evening I went back to working on my turntable.
Despite following the instructions closely it didn't rotate very well
and that's kinda important. I finally struck out on my own and
determined that a different way of thinking had to be used. I made the
corrections and tonite after floating my repair project, I should be
able to power things up and run rail.
I'll add my congrulations to our newly elected BOT. You will have a few
challenges to keep busy with, I'm sure.
And to Bob Hogan, very nice work (finally ran down to my local HS for a
copy). I would think nearly everyone on the bus tours will be stopping
by because of the feature in RMC.
