I'm too stupid for this...

There is no mesa package in SAGE, since
sage: install_package('mesa')
does not work. There is no package mesa in ubuntu repos, but mayavi2 and
it work's (without a mesa package). What is mesa for? Is it hardware
specific (ati, nvidia)?

Thanks a lot for your reply and Greetings

If you look at the log then its clear that no OpenGL implementation is
available:

-- Looking for glXGetProcAddressARB - not found
-- Looking for glXGetProcAddress - not found
CMake Error: This project requires some variables to be set,
and cmake can not find them.
Please set the following variables:
OPENGL_gl_LIBRARY (ADVANCED)

Sage doesn't ship (yet ;) with Mesa, so you should install it (and the
corresponding mesa-devel packages) in your distribution.

Im having exactly the same issue with SAGE 5.8 (output attached). As
I read that "I am on my own" I am curious if it is on the TODO list
to solve this issue? Or was this just an experimental "proof of
    concept"? Any support for this?
