 5.4.rc2.  Aargh.  Is it possible that it's the changes in 12.7.1.p1 at
 #9167 actually fix the problem I'm having?  So far, that's the only one of
 the three that worked in building Maxima with 5.5.rc0.  And of course the
 old spkg you mention was fine.
 What same problem do you mean?
 Getting stuck at SLATE:DBESJ?

 Because what #9167 deals with is completely unrelated.
