While it's probably measuring something significant, I don't think the
process properly controls for other factors. I've seen significant
(consistent) timing differences between different ''compiles'' of exactly
the same sage (i.e., after `hg qpop; sage -b; hg qpush; sage -b`) on the
same computer. The only thing I can think of for something like that is
getting lucky/unlucky how certain libraries get laid out in memory. The
differences it's reporting are so small that I think one cannot rule out
such factors (the reference build being "lucky" and the patch build being
"unlucky").
