Hi Sebastian,
This is a great discussion that you might want to consider including
portions of on sage-devel for everybody to see. You can include a link to
Trac for folks who want to peruse the details on the fix.
Also, there is a "linear algebra" component that might be more appropriate
than the "algebra" component.
I'll take a look at the patch today or tomorrow as I get a chance.
