Then what about doing the following:
1. Implement `%var a, b` (or perhaps `var a, b`) and/or
`SR.var('a').inject()`, leaving `var()` alone for the moment.
2. Change as much as possible of the documentation and examples to use
either `a = SR.var('a')` or `%var a`.
3. Wait a year or two to see if the new syntax catches on.
4. Formally deprecate `var()`, add a deprecation warning, a remove it
after a while.
