You should do some things like

%timeit gp.eval('2+3')
%timeit gp('2') + gp('3')
%timeit axiom('2+3')
}}}
etc. The doctesting won't testing latency much, and latency is *the*
main issue with performance with the pexpect interfaces.
The other is size, e.g.,

%timeit s=str(gp.eval('2^10000'))
}}}
