 I just tried using it, and it didn't work for me: same problem you had.  I
 thought that I had used it before successfully, but I don't know how this
 could be now.  I'm puzzled.

 As far as making the link, do we need to link to all of the static
 libraries created by ATLAS?  It seems like it wouldn't hurt.  Also, it
 seems as though there is another liblapack.a, I think installed by the
 lapack spkg, which might need to be deleted before making the link.
