I'm not sure if it was necessary to recompile !NumPy, but your suggestion
works for me. The long doctests now all pass.

I thought that I had used it before successfully, but I don't know how
this could be now. I'm puzzled.
We all make mistakes.

Yes, you are probably right. That's something I can address at #9780. In
fact, I don't think there's any need to have the lapack package in Sage.
