Interestingly enough on Gentoo we have -I/usr/include/python2.6 added to
the compilation flags everywhere. I wonder if just finding a way of adding
-I${SAGE_LOCAL}/include/python2.6 in sage would help at all. The mystery
then
would be "how did it work before?" Furthermore why is it not needed for
the earlier
C compilations.... or on other platforms? May be we are using system
python headers without knowing it?
I will work on that over the week end. Hopefully by Monday I will have
something you can test.
