symbols in conjunction with dynamic libraries is completely unrelated to
the processor architecture; I doubt the one used on Intel processors in
10.4 will differ much from the one on PowerPCs. (PPC may imply Darwin 8,
but not the other way around.)
I sent an email to the PARI people about this, let's see what they say.
