It did not help. I also tried unsetting MAKE - again no help.
I've not managed to build ATLAS on Debian either in a virtual machine. I
have the latest version of !VirtualBox. I did wonder if I loaded the
machine up, so the CPU usage was high, if this would increase the times
and so hopefully get non-zero values.
