 Of course it incidentally "works" ''there'', because we are not looking
 for `gcc`. If you define `CC="suncc -whatever"` it won't work, i.e. not
 recognize Sun's `cc`.

 I think we don't have to provide a (standard) package to make `patch` a
 prerequisite.

 Note that Mercurial depends on Python, so unless we make one of these a
 prerequisite, using Mercurial instead (which I wouldn't like) isn't an
 option.

 Good question... ;-) Apparently wrong ticket... (Confused that because
 updating the readline spkg ''triggered'' the `pkg-config` problems with
 freetype.)
