For what it's worth, I've done the following successfully with the current
versions:
- build from scratch ("./sage -sdist ..." produced the tar file
[http://sage.math.washington.edu/home/palmieri/misc/9433/sage-4.6.1.9433.alpha0.tar])
- upgrade from 4.6.1.alpha0, and then upgrade again to the version with a
modified root repo
- same, but started from 4.4
This was all on sage.math. I also tested 4.6.1.alpha0 on OS X 10.6 with
no problems.
I'm testing "./sage -bdist ...", which I forgot to do earlier. I'm also
testing a build from scratch on another platform.
