Unfortunately, I'd say it is too early. We need Karl to test it on his old
ppc OS X 10.4 mac and a run on solaris is also in order. I removed a patch
for ia64 that didn't obviously port to python-2.7 so a look at that
platform is also in order. In the mean time we can review #11986 and
#12124 which I think can be done independently.
We could even split the combinat patches as they should work with
python-2.6. It just there is nothing obvious to fix there.
