 So change the test from

 }}}

 To
 {{{
 if( ( (n > MAX_VERTICES) || (n>0) ) && !(sizeof(uint_fast8_t) * (1ul <<
 n)) )
 }}}

 Honestly, which one is the fastest to read ?
