I saw that commit but I must admit I do not understand whether that
actually modified the behavior of Maxima and slatec or not.
My point here is that we should get rid of the now useless lines of code
and if possible document it properly either in the file itself or in
SPKG.txt with a pointer to the corresponding Maxima commit and some
explanation.
Deciding whether the current behavior of letting the user know that an
error occurred through the last value of the tuple (as maxima does) which
is already document, or whether we should actually look at that value in
Sage itself and raise an actual Error accordingly can be done later (or
not, I'll personally live with it as it is).
